How to obtain Prescription Drug coverage

How to obtain Prescription Drug coverage

There are two different ways to get prescription drug coverage. The first is if you choose to take original medicare and add a medicare Supplement you will also need to purchase a stand-alone prescription drug plan. The second option is to opt into a Medicare Advantage plan that has built in prescription drug coverage. Prescription Drug Plans are optional; however, if you do not sign up for one when you are first eligible then you will incur a penalty if you decide to sign up later on. If you don’t take any prescription medications right now, it might be a good idea to look at a Prescription Drug Plan now anyway.
